Role Summary: Reporting directly to the Camp Director, the Camp Administration Supervisor is instrumental in facilitating the year-round operations of Camp Mendocino. This role is centered around essential administrative functions that ensure the camp operates smoothly.

Seasonal Responsibilities:

During the spring and summer months, the Supervisor is deeply engaged in orchestrating summer camp sessions. This encompasses managing the registration process for around 1,200 campers and coordinating transportation logistics for youth traveling to Camp Mendocino. The Supervisor oversees a part-time team responsible for enrollment, recruitment, and communication efforts. While primarily based in the San Francisco office, the role includes occasional visits to Camp Mendocino, where the Supervisor supports the Camp Office Manager and other coordinators.

Fall and Winter Duties: In the off-season, the Supervisor collaborates with the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director on strategic planning to refine systems for the upcoming year. Responsibilities include administrative tasks such as managing schedules, overseeing rental group contracts, budget management, and liaising with the Camp leadership team and external partners. The Supervisor also manages facility rentals during the spring and fall, often acting as the on-site coordinator for various rental groups.

This position requires occasional weekend presence at Camp Mendocino during peak rental seasons and is primarily office-based in San Francisco.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment & Enrollment (35%): Develop and maintain registration systems, implement recruitment strategies, and enhance camper participation through marketing efforts.
  • Administrative Support (30%): Coordinate meetings, manage databases, and ensure the availability of crucial information.
  • Financial Management (20%): Strategize facility rentals, manage rental events, and monitor financial performance.
  • Staff Oversight (15%): Supervise seasonal staff, delegate tasks, and provide coaching and feedback.

Qualifications:

  • Education: BA or BS from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  • Driver's License: Valid California driver's license.
  • Event Planning: Proven skills in event planning and logistical operations.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in writing, computer use, and customer relations.

Preferred Experience:

  • 2-3 years in staff management.
  • Leadership roles in overnight summer camps.
  • Experience in youth development non-profits.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Capable of walking on uneven terrain.
  • Comfortable working in varying temperatures.
