The incumbent provides leadership, direction, orientation, coaching, in-service training, staff development, and continuing education programs for assigned staff.

Major duties include but are not limited to the following:Screening/Assessment:
Demonstrates the ability to independently conduct a psychosocial assessment with a wide variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, ethnic, educational, and other diversified backgrounds.
Treatment Planning/Goal Setting:
Possesses knowledge of medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities and treatment procedures (i.e., acute, chronic and traumatic injuries/illnesses, common medications and side effects, and medical terminology) to formulate a treatment plan.
Counseling / Therapeutic Interventions:
Skilled in a range of specialized interventions and treatment modalities used in specialty treatment programs or with this specialized population who are experiencing a variety of psychiatric, medical, and social problems to achieve treatment goals.
including individual, group and or family counseling or psychotherapy and advanced level psychosocial and or case management.Case Management / Care Coordination:
Provides case management and care coordination to facilitate appropriate delivery of health care services, incorporates complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment of Veterans, including making psychosocial and psychiatric diagnoses within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice.
Referrals / Linkage Services:
Serves as subject matter expert regarding VA and/or community resources.
Advocacy:
Acts as an advocate with appropriate VA and community service providers and agencies when it serves the best interest of the Veteran and family members/caregiver.
Program Coordination:
Demonstrate knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring.
Consultation/Training:
Provide specialized consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of patients in this service delivery area as well as role modeling effective social work practice skills.
Administrative responsibilities:
Serve on committees, work groups, and task forces at the facility, VISN and national level or in the community as deemed appropriate by the supervisor and participates in various program and Social Work Service administrative and clinical meetings.
Work Schedule:Monday - Friday; 8:00am to 4:30pm. (Tour of Duty to be determined upon hire)
