Role Summary:

The Manager of Camp Administration, under the guidance of the Camp Director, is integral to the operational success of Camp Mendocino throughout the year. This position is primarily focused on administrative functions that are vital for the camp's effective operation.

Spring and Summer Responsibilities:

The Manager plays a pivotal role in orchestrating summer camp activities, which includes overseeing the registration process for approximately 1,200 campers and managing transportation logistics for youth traveling to Camp Mendocino. This role involves supervising a part-time team responsible for enrollment, recruitment, and communication efforts. During the summer months, the Manager's primary location is the San Francisco office, with periodic visits to Camp Mendocino. Key tasks include coordinating transportation days, managing logistics, and facilitating communications with families.

Fall and Winter Responsibilities:

During the off-peak seasons, the Manager collaborates with the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director to strategize improvements for the upcoming year. This includes managing schedules, overseeing rental agreements, monitoring budgets, and liaising with the Camp leadership team and external partners. The Manager also oversees facility rentals during the spring and fall, often acting as the on-site coordinator for various rental groups.

This position requires occasional weekend availability at Camp Mendocino during peak rental seasons and is structured to allocate approximately 85% of the time in San Francisco and 15% at Camp Mendocino.

This is a full-time role (40 hours per week) with benefits included.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment & Enrollment (35%): Develop and maintain effective registration systems, implement recruitment strategies, enhance camper participation through marketing efforts, and serve as the primary contact for families.
  • Administrative Support (30%): Coordinate meetings, manage databases, ensure the availability of essential information, and collaborate with various departments.
  • Financial Management (20%): Strategize facility rentals, manage rental events, support retail operations, and monitor budget goals.
  • Staff Management (15%): Supervise seasonal staff, delegate tasks, provide coaching, and lead seasonal Camp teams.

Qualifications:

  • Education: BA or BS from an accredited institution or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Driver's License: Valid CA driver's license; must be comfortable driving company vehicles.
  • Event Planning: Proven skills in planning and executing events or logistical operations.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Technical Skills: Strong writing, computer, and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing staff and leadership roles at summer camps.
  • Background in youth development non-profits.
  • Certifications in First Aid/CPR are required within a specified timeframe of employment.
