Required Qualifications

Completion of a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) in surgical technology is essential. Alternatively, candidates may be Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a Surgical Technician capacity, or possess certification as a surgical technologist or as a surgical technologist first assistant from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). Graduates from military training programs are also eligible, provided they can validate their training with appropriate documentation.

Physical Demands
The role necessitates the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull significant weights regularly, alongside prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.

Work Environment
Employees may encounter exposure to infectious diseases, radiation hazards, and potential injuries from challenging patients or sharp instruments.

Shift Details
This position operates on a 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. schedule.

Position Overview
This role is situated within the Chandler Operating Room unit.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Facilitate the passing of surgical instruments during procedures.
2. Uphold a strict sterile environment and assist in surgical case counts.
3. Gather necessary supplies and instruments, ensuring they are complete and functional.
4. Independently prepare the operating room or collaborate with the circulating nurse based on the complexity of the case.
5. Establish and maintain a sterile field until the patient leaves the operating room.
6. Keep the sterile field organized throughout each surgical case.
7. Anticipate the needs of surgeons by passing instruments accordingly.
8. Monitor for any breaches in sterile technique and take corrective measures as needed.
9. Conduct counts in line with established policies.

Skills and Competencies
Proficiency in scrubbing various surgical cases is required.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not include supervisory duties.
