Position Overview

Audubon Companies is in search of a Senior Mechanical Engineer to contribute to our engineering efforts. The selected candidate will be responsible for executing mechanical engineering tasks related to the design of equipment, components, structures, or systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop detailed specifications for project assignments, outlining client performance expectations, component requirements, design criteria, relevant design codes, and vendor drawing specifications.
  • Create engineering sketches, conduct calculations, and build analysis models for complex projects.
  • Evaluate vendor drawings to ensure adherence to project specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other consultants.
  • Establish realistic timelines and ensure project completion within budget constraints.
  • Maintain compliance with company quality standards and follow engineering review and approval protocols.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, security, and environmental standards set by the company and clients, as well as applicable regulations.
  • Participate in hazard identification and reporting programs, addressing any unsafe conditions or incidents promptly.
  • Collaborate with the drafting/design team to create and review engineering drawings.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project requirements and conditions.
  • Inspect vendor facilities to verify equipment compliance with specifications.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions and bid tabulations related to equipment procurement.
  • Review engineering drawings and perform calculations for accuracy.
  • Focus on safe design practices while identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Manage project workload, budgets, and resources, seeking assistance when necessary.
  • Develop and review engineering design packages, both conceptual and detailed.
  • Estimate man-hours and Total Installed Costs based on project scope, managing and forecasting requirements and schedules.
  • Lead medium to large multi-discipline projects, overseeing daily workflow and delegating tasks as needed.
  • Provide feedback on co-worker performance and address any work-related issues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required.
  • Degree from an ABET Accredited Institution is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • Field experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Experience leading medium/large multi-discipline projects is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Caesar II, NozzlePRO, and/or PIPE-FLO software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of piping systems and process equipment design is preferred.
  • Understanding of piping, pressure vessel, and equipment codes (ASME, API, etc.) is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proactive approach to addressing work-related challenges.
  • Ability to comprehend instructions and seek clarification when needed.
  • Team-oriented mindset with effective communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills to direct projects to completion.
