Position Overview

The Mechanical Systems Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the mechanical operations within the organization. This position involves strategic planning, management of mechanical teams, and ensuring the efficiency of equipment used in operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Support: Collaborate with the Operations Superintendent to enhance survey planning and manage contracts effectively.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and propose enhancements to existing systems and workflows.
  • Equipment Innovation: Advocate for the integration of new mechanical seismic equipment, working closely with Innovation and Technical Support teams.
  • Cross-Departmental Assistance: Provide mechanical expertise to various departments as needed.
  • Crew Performance: Contribute to the evaluation and performance review of crew members.
  • Team Management: Lead the mechanical team by:
    • Assessing personnel requirements in conjunction with the Operations Superintendent.
    • Creating individual development plans tailored to team members' needs.
    • Ensuring that Mechanical Shift Leaders and Operators are well-prepared for their tasks, setting a strong example.
    • Prioritizing and supervising departmental responsibilities.
  • Productivity Maximization: Focus on the efficient and safe operation of mechanical equipment, adhering to established procedures and collaborating with other departments.
  • Maintenance Management: Oversee the maintenance of mechanical equipment by:
    • Implementing a comprehensive maintenance plan based on recommendations and supplier guidelines.
    • Documenting and reporting maintenance activities using the relevant systems.
    • Monitoring maintenance metrics and initiating corrective actions as necessary.
    • Coordinating with other departments for specialized assistance and managing spare parts inventory effectively.
    • Recommending capital investments to enhance operational capabilities.
  • Client Interaction: Advise the Operations Superintendent on technical matters related to mechanical equipment during client engagements.

***Please note that this is an offshore rotational role***

Qualifications

Applicants should possess an Engineering degree or a Technician Diploma in General Mechanics, Hydraulics, or Electro-mechanics, with familiarity in:

  • Mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems (up to 690 volts).
  • Automated systems and Programmable Logic Controllers.
  • Active heave compensated systems and offshore cranes.
  • Welding techniques for various materials.
  • Seismic operations and marine back deck activities.
  • Maintenance management systems.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English, capable of producing clear technical documentation.

Alternatively, candidates with relevant vocational or military experience in engineering, mechanics, or artificer roles are encouraged to apply. Key attributes include:
