Position Summary

The Private Grants Manager serves as a vital force in overseeing the entire lifecycle of private grants at Three Square. This role combines innovative thinking with strategic planning to convert private funding opportunities into impactful narratives. The manager is responsible for:

  • Conducting thorough research to identify private grant opportunities that align with the mission of Three Square.
  • Crafting persuasive grant proposals that effectively communicate complex ideas in a way that resonates with current and prospective funders.
  • Building and nurturing positive relationships with grantors, addressing inquiries, and providing necessary information as required.
  • Collaborating with program managers, finance teams, and other departments to ensure grant proposals are aligned with organizational goals and grantor requirements.
  • Collecting and analyzing data to support grant proposals and reporting processes.
  • Monitoring and tracking private grant activities to ensure compliance with grantor requirements and reporting standards.
  • Assisting with financial tracking for private grants in partnership with the Grants Administration team.
  • Ensuring data accuracy for all reporting measures and financial documentation related to grants.
  • Preparing and submitting grant reports in accordance with grant agreements, ensuring precision and timeliness.
  • Providing writing support to Development and Marketing teams for various requests, including major funding communications, fundraising proposals, annual reports, and marketing materials.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of both government and private grants to enhance the organization’s grant strategy.
  • Facilitating effective communication across departments to ensure compliance throughout the grant process.
  • Identifying challenges and proposing solutions to improve Three Square's internal grant processes.
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures for the Grants Administration department.
  • Managing sensitive information with discretion.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess strong creative and strategic writing abilities, with a talent for developing compelling narratives and persuasive proposals. Essential skills include:

  • Exceptional multitasking capabilities, efficiently managing multiple projects and deadlines while upholding high-quality standards.
  • Expertise in proofreading and a keen attention to detail to ensure clarity and accuracy in all written materials.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster relationships and communicate effectively with funders and team members.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with preferred experience in donor management software and familiarity with grant proposals and reporting processes.
  • Strong analytical and computational skills, with a proven ability to learn new software tools to enhance organizational efficiency.
  • Outstanding verbal communication skills.

Work Environment

This role involves working indoors in a controlled environment, requiring regular use of computers and telephones. Occasional evening work and travel may be necessary.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required, preferably in a related field such as Non-Profit Management, English, Public Health, or Public Administration. A minimum of five years of direct operational experience in grants writing and management within a non-profit or governmental context is preferred.
