Job Overview

The Grant a Gift Autism Foundation (GGAF) – Ackerman Center is dedicated to delivering comprehensive clinical services, resources, education, research, and advocacy aimed at fostering meaningful solutions for individuals, families, and the community affected by autism and other neurodevelopmental disabilities. Our Behavioral Support Technicians (BSTs) play a crucial role within our Programs Team, collaborating closely with Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and Licensed Behavior Analysts (LBAs).

The Programs Team is responsible for providing direct support to clients across various initiatives, including:

  • Early Start Denver Model (ESDM)
  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
  • Social Skills Development Groups
  • Daily Living Skills Training
  • Vocational Support Groups

Position Purpose

The Behavioral Support Technician (BST) is a paraprofessional who operates under the continuous supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA). The primary responsibility of the BST is to directly implement behavior-analytic services.

The BST may engage with clients one-on-one or in group settings, either at the center or in community environments, serving clients aged 1 to 25 years.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Client Engagement

  • Implement behavioral programs in both individual and group settings under the guidance of the BCBA.
  • Collect and document data on all programming and write progress reports.
  • Collaborate with families and other center staff alongside the BCBA.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures.
  • Participate in patient care settings with other personnel as needed.
  • Model and provide appropriate behavioral strategies for clients and their families, conducting regular training sessions for parents.
  • Assist in conducting assessments as required to deliver behavior-analytic services.
  • Monitor client performance and provide necessary feedback and prompts.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all clients' performance data.
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with client rights in accordance with relevant regulations.
  • Deliver high-quality service and strive for client satisfaction.
  • Facilitate natural supports in the workplace for clients and their supervisors.
  • Support the acquisition of mastery across program goals and specific tasks.
  • Build rapport with families through excellent customer service.
  • Assist in organizing Programmatic events such as group outings and support groups.

Administrative Duties

  • Maintain client data and progress notes in tracking systems.
  • Record attendance in tracking systems.
  • Prepare session materials and documentation.
  • Conduct meetings with parents/caregivers to discuss client progress.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings for client growth discussions and continued education.
  • Assist with other administrative duties as needed.
  • Participate in center-related events.

Educational Qualifications

  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification is preferred or the ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
  • Position contingent on full credentialing as an RBT within the initial period.
  • Completion of a 40-hour RBT training course upon hire.
  • Minimum age of 18 with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Ability to pass a background check in accordance with state regulations.

  • A passion for teaching and instructional support.
  • Preferred experience in delivering supported employment services or direct services to individuals with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of ESDM and ABA techniques is advantageous.
  • Ability to address sensitive issues with families compassionately.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative, professional, and resourceful with the ability to work independently.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to interact with children on the floor for extended periods.
  • Capacity to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged durations.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
  • Flexibility to work special schedules, including evenings and weekends.
  • Capability to work with challenging clients.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
