Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Elementary Education Specialist to join our team at Springfield Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing educational support to students with Autism and other special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Teaching and Instruction: Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with Autism, ensuring that they meet the district's curriculum goals and objectives.
  2. Classroom Management: Create a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes social, emotional, and academic growth for students with Autism.
  3. Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet their unique needs.
  4. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with general education teachers, special education staff, and parents to ensure a comprehensive support system for students with Autism.
  5. Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with best practices in special education and Autism support, participating in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
Qualifications
  1. Education and Licensure: Possess a Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field, with a valid Massachusetts teaching license in Special Education (PreK-8) or a related area.
  2. Experience: Have a minimum of 2 years of experience working with students with Autism or other special needs.
  3. Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrate expertise in Autism support, behavior management, and instructional strategies for students with special needs.
