JOB SUMMARY:

The role is essential in assisting the department to meet corporate objectives, which encompasses high-quality customer order fulfillment and effective inventory management. This position is accountable for overseeing and aiding the execution of corporate category strategies and initiatives within the operational company (OpCo). The individual will support the OpCo sales team with product assortment updates, informational inquiries, and the delivery of product training sessions. Additionally, the role will drive category initiatives and assortment in alignment with corporate standards, executing recommended assortment modifications while fostering positive relationships with local suppliers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement Category Management and other initiatives within designated categories.
  • Ensure the success of categories and provide overall support for corporate core suppliers.
  • Engage with planners, suppliers, brokers, sales teams, and customer service.
  • Promote local assortment within assigned categories to meet corporate objectives.
  • Manage relationships with local suppliers and brokers.
  • Offer insights, support, and guidance to the OpCo Sales Specialist.
  • Conduct corporate assortment training at the OpCo as necessary.
  • Perform local supplier evaluations and negotiations utilizing corporate best practices.
  • Negotiate and secure supplier-funded customer pricing adjustments.
  • Facilitate negotiations and management of local Earned Income programs.
  • Oversee and review Earned Income components for the company.
  • Collaborate with supplier Category Captains or Advisors for focus categories as needed.
  • Assist in the inventory depletion process by identifying items for discontinuation and aiding in supplier negotiations for product returns.
  • Drive results on focus categories and support promotional activities and sales events.
  • Serve as the primary contact for local sales and assist with all related issues.
  • Manage the creation of new items and vendors.
  • Enhance Sysco Brand sales.
  • Oversee category equities and market pricing to maintain pricing integrity in conjunction with the Revenue Management team.
  • Collaborate and review Sales and GP results of Market Cost Price changes with the Revenue Management team.
  • Provide market commodity and industry updates to the sales organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform essential job functions.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in a retail, wholesale, or distribution environment.

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to manage conflict and reach swift resolutions through factual dialogue.
  • Capacity to multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in driving positive merchandising changes.
  • Ability to collaborate with all organizational levels and manage dotted line reporting.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues as they arise.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning capabilities.
  • Ability to execute all merchandising standard processes.
  • Exceptional supplier negotiation skills and ability to establish professional relationships with suppliers and brokers.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
