Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage with stakeholders to collect, prioritize, and document technical specifications.
  • Manage and prioritize a clearly defined technical product backlog, ensuring it highlights the most impactful features and enhancements.
  • Offer guidance and support in technical decision-making and architectural design.
  • Champion user needs and ensure that product design and functionality emphasize an exceptional user experience.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, QA engineers, and designers, to facilitate smooth product development and delivery.
  • Work in conjunction with other departments such as Production, Purchasing, Sales, and Customer Service.
  • Adhere to the safety management protocols established by the organization.
  • Participate in sprint planning and scrum meetings with developers both locally and internationally.
  • Develop and communicate release schedules, timelines, and milestones.
  • Coordinate with other Product Owners and the Software Engineering Manager to align resources for software development.
  • Inform relevant departments about software releases and ensure effective communication of release content.
  • Stay informed about the latest technologies and trends in automation and propose product enhancement ideas.
  • Lead Factory testing on machines for new features and initiate field testing, which may involve domestic and/or international travel.
  • Follow the strategic plan set by R&D & Engineering as prioritized by the Engineering Manager and communicated during performance evaluations.
  • Provide support and collaborate with other functions within the organization as required and prioritized by the Engineering Manager.
  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Engineering Manager.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline. A Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.

Experience: 5-10 years of hands-on experience in Mobile Machinery System Software Development.

Required Skills / Competencies:
  • Proficient in writing detailed software specifications.
  • Familiarity with CANbus protocols, primarily J1939 and CANopen.
  • Experience with PLC programming languages, preferably CoDeSys IEC.
  • Proficient in C/C++ and scripting languages.
  • Experience with application lifecycle management tools (e.g., Polarion), version control systems (e.g., SVN), and build systems (e.g., Jenkins).
  • Understanding of basic networking architectures such as TCP/IP, Ethernet, mesh, and peer-to-peer.
  • Knowledgeable in RestAPI and UDP development for data transfer between mobile machinery and office systems.
  • Basic understanding of Linux.
  • Familiarity with the MS Productivity suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of PLCs (EPEC or IFM preferred) and integration of various sensors and technologies.
  • Good grasp of common software engineering standards for mobile equipment product development and ISO standards.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of working independently or collaboratively to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Knowledge of the mining industry is advantageous.
