Key Responsibilities- Manage and coordinate activities of plumbing mechanics to ensure efficient and effective maintenance of plumbing systems.
- Plan and schedule work for assigned staff, ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate staffing levels.
- Establish and update maintenance standards and priorities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop and manage budgets for plumbing maintenance and repairs, ensuring cost-effectiveness and optimal resource allocation.
- Guide and train employees on plumbing maintenance tasks and projects, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Inspect completed assignments to ensure satisfactory work quality, operating procedures, efficiency, progress, methods, and practices.
- Review and update plumbing maintenance specifications to ensure they align with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and maintain direct personal contact with campus community members to ensure their concerns and needs are addressed.
- Consult with other university departments and organizations to provide support for plumbing deficiencies and ensure seamless operations.
- Establish equipment and supply maintenance budgets and ensure accountability for their use.
- Initiate purchases of supplies, services, tools, and equipment in accordance with established purchasing procedures.
- Plan, develop, and manage efficient, economical preventive maintenance of tools and equipment assigned to the plumbing shop.
- Participate in the department's computerized work management system and utilize pertinent management reports to evaluate and improve plumbing maintenance and operational performance.
- Ensure plumbing personnel are properly trained and updated in proper maintenance/operations practices, safety, and regulatory issues.
- Provide performance feedback to employees regarding performance and the results of plumbing inspections.
- Perform employee interviews and select new hires.
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in a recognized trade and relevant experience to total five years; or a high school diploma or equivalent and five years of relevant experience.
- Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
- Five years direct supervisory experience in the field of plumbing systems or a combination of education and experience.
- Experience in an institutional research setting.
- Proficient in computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook E-Mail.
This is a full-time position with a normal work schedule of 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. May vary due to projects, emergencies, or on-call/stand-by as required.
Salary and BenefitsThe salary range for this position is $63,000- $65,000 Annually.
