Position Summary:

InsideHigherEd is in search of a dedicated Cloud Platform Engineer who is eager to leverage their technical skills in a dynamic, customer-oriented production support and development setting. This role is part of the Infrastructure & Communication Technology team, which operates within a high-performance data center equipped with numerous servers and extensive storage capabilities.

Joining our team means becoming part of a collaborative environment where employees are committed to understanding and addressing the technological needs of the higher education community.

As a member of the Infrastructure & Communications Technology (ICT) unit, you will spearhead medium to large-scale projects and oversee teams tasked with the maintenance, installation, configuration, and deployment of sophisticated hardware and software systems. Your team will play a crucial role in managing data centers and delivering hosted services, including server, storage, virtualization, database, and email systems. These systems are vital for connecting various campuses and research sites through high-speed data, video, telecommunications, and VoIP services.

This position offers the chance to assist in designing and architecting advanced system solutions, establishing enterprise standards, proposing new initiatives, and ensuring alignment with industry trends. You will collaborate with managers and technical colleagues while also serving as a mentor to junior staff members.

Benefits

Full-time employees will accrue vacation leave at a competitive rate and are eligible for paid holidays each year. Additionally, employees can access a comprehensive benefits package that includes personal leave days.

Salary Range:

$90,000 - $95,000; commensurate based on education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and four years of applicable experience; or a high school diploma (or equivalent) with eight years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in:
  • Managing enterprise implementations of VMware systems including vSphere and vRealize Automation
  • Installing and troubleshooting ESXi hypervisor
  • Integrating various vendor storage platforms with VMware
  • Conducting performance analysis for ESXi hosts

Knowledge of/Experience with:
  • Requirements analysis and capacity planning
  • Project management methodologies
  • ITIL and IT Service Management
  • Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Authentication systems integration
  • Managing physical hardware
  • Enterprise backup systems
  • Configuration management tools
