Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Operations Specialist to join our team at Novate Legal Search. As an Accounting Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the day-to-day operational needs of our Accounting, Billing, and Collections teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Operations: Oversee Firm accounts payable, accounts receivable, collection efforts, and new matter management.
  • Accounting and Billing: Record and reconcile daily cash receipts, accounts payable invoice entry, and check preparation.
  • Financial Analysis: Monitor and manage outstanding accounts receivable and collection efforts, and provide attorneys with thoughtful analysis regarding best course of action for billing and collection of balances.
  • Ad Hoc Requests: Complete ad hoc billing requests as requested by attorneys and client-driven requests.
  • Departmental Support: Contribute to department and firm-wide special projects, collaborating with key personnel in various departments as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Education: A four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: 4+ years of relevant accounting and/or billing experience, with legal industry experience preferred; experience with Aderant billing and legal accounting software is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, superior attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Technology: Strong technology skills, including intermediate to expert level Excel skills, and working knowledge of Aderant.
