POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Field Sales Engineer is tasked with expanding a well-established market territory and nurturing existing client relationships while pursuing new business ventures. This role involves engaging with engineers, maintenance personnel, procurement teams, and other stakeholders to assess their requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet and exceed sales and profitability targets by cultivating current customer relationships and identifying new business prospects.
  • Drive profitability within the designated region.
  • Develop and sustain a robust sales pipeline to support revenue growth objectives with both existing and prospective clients.
  • Employ a consultative sales approach, conducting regular outreach to current clients to enhance partnerships; propose additional products and solutions that align with customer needs, introduce new offerings, showcase product features, and address inquiries regarding product applications.
  • Actively seek new business opportunities through research and lead generation efforts, including cold outreach, networking, referrals, and partnerships.
  • Present integrated solutions or vending options to potential clients.
  • Generate and manage quotes and proposals, ensuring timely follow-up, negotiation of terms, and successful deal closures.
  • Identify and document opportunities for productivity improvements and cost savings for the customer base.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients and suppliers.
  • Collaborate on strategies to enhance business growth and revenue forecasting.
  • Address and resolve customer inquiries and issues promptly and professionally.
  • Organize and lead training sessions for clients, introducing and demonstrating new products.
  • Report on competitive landscape, customer financial health, and feedback to management.
  • Work in close partnership with suppliers to foster mutual business growth through joint sales initiatives.
  • Participate in sales meetings, product briefings, and other company events.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Reports directly to the District Sales Manager.
  • Expected total compensation (salary plus commissions) ranges from $100k to $140K or more.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 5 years of experience in outside sales.
  • Experience in metalworking, industrial sectors, or MRO is essential.
  • Strong business insight and acumen.
  • Proven success in achieving sales targets, acquiring new accounts, retaining existing clients, and expanding sales within active accounts.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and execute on established sales metrics.
  • Familiarity with Automated Procurement Systems is preferred.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to develop actionable plans.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including presentation and negotiation capabilities.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel frequently within the assigned territory.
  • A customer-focused, adaptable, and teamwork-oriented mindset.
  • Strong sense of urgency and accountability.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; a 2- or 4-year college degree is preferred.
