Position Overview: The Assistant Kitchen Manager is essential in overseeing the daily functions of the culinary team, offering expert guidance and direction to kitchen staff. This role is crucial in maintaining the restaurant's high standards for quality in all food preparations and presentations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster and maintain positive professional relationships with all kitchen personnel through effective collaboration.
  • Assign tasks to team members while providing mentorship and support to enhance their culinary skills and overall performance.
  • Oversee kitchen operations on a shift-by-shift basis, ensuring seamless transitions and consistent service delivery.
  • Expedite food orders during service, guaranteeing prompt and efficient delivery of meals.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, promoting a safe and sanitary kitchen environment.
  • Supervise daily kitchen production activities, including food preparation and cooking, to ensure efficiency and consistency.
  • Organize and direct kitchen workflows during production to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to recipes and presentation standards, maintaining high quality in food preparation.
  • Monitor food quality, including taste, texture, and appearance, while managing inventory levels effectively.
  • Place orders with suppliers to maintain adequate stock levels.
  • Train and develop kitchen staff, focusing on culinary techniques, food safety practices, and teamwork.
  • Uphold cleanliness and sanitation standards, ensuring proper maintenance and functionality of kitchen equipment.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Sous Chef or in a comparable role within a high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and management skills.
  • Exceptional culinary skills with a comprehensive understanding of various cooking methods.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality dishes.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems such as MarginEdge is advantageous.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, typically 12-14 hours.
