Role of the Sous Chef

As the pivotal support in the Snooze kitchen, you will oversee the quality and standards of our culinary offerings. Your key responsibilities will include managing kitchen operations such as procurement, inventory management, and food preparation while ensuring adherence to safety and sanitation protocols. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in mentoring kitchen staff on cooking techniques, presentation, portioning, and cost management. Position Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage kitchen staff to ensure compliance with Snooze policies and procedures.
  • Be well-versed in Snooze's personnel policies and handle any necessary corrective actions fairly and promptly.
  • Maintain high-quality standards in food preparation, ensuring the best products are served.
  • Assist management in recruitment, training, and performance evaluations of kitchen staff.
  • Ensure all kitchen personnel are trained in safety and sanitation practices.
  • Support the Head Chef in administrative tasks, including inventory management and scheduling.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure all kitchen equipment is clean and functioning properly.
  • Help manage food costs through effective inventory and waste control.
  • Assist in labor cost management by optimizing staff schedules based on sales forecasts.
  • Provide guidance on safety and sanitation protocols to maintain a secure work environment.
  • Contribute to a fun and rewarding workplace culture for all team members.

Is This Position Right for You?

To thrive as a Sous Chef at Snooze, candidates should:

  • Be at least 21 years old and authorized to work in the United States.
  • Possess a solid understanding of food and beverage operations, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the industry and 1 year in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrate strong mathematical skills and proficiency in operating cash registers and POS systems.
  • Be capable of standing for extended periods and have the stamina to work 45 to 50 hours weekly.
