The Role of Sous Chef

As the key support to the Head Chef, you will play a vital role in upholding the quality and standards of our kitchen. Your main responsibilities will include overseeing kitchen operations, managing food purchasing, storage, inventory, and preparation while ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation regulations. You will also be instrumental in training kitchen staff on cooking techniques, presentation, portion control, and cost management. Your mission is to maintain the exceptional quality of Snooze's offerings, foster creativity, and serve as a role model for your peers.

Position Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage all kitchen staff to ensure adherence to Snooze policies and standards.
  • Administer fair and consistent corrective actions for policy violations.
  • Maintain high-quality standards in food preparation and presentation.
  • Assist in hiring, training, and evaluating kitchen staff.
  • Ensure all staff are trained in safety and sanitation practices.
  • Support the Head Chef in managing kitchen paperwork, including inventory and scheduling.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure equipment is clean and functioning properly.
  • Help control food costs through proper inventory management and waste reduction.
  • Assist in labor cost management through effective scheduling.
  • Provide leadership in maintaining a safe and enjoyable work environment.

Is This Position Right for You?

To excel as a Sous Chef at Snooze, candidates should:

  • Be at least 21 years old and authorized to work in the United States.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of culinary operations experience and 1 year in a leadership role.
  • Possess strong math skills and familiarity with cash registers and POS systems.
  • Be able to stand for extended periods and work 45 to 50 hours weekly.
