APPLICATION ENGINEER 3 - CONTROLS ENGINEER – BUILDING CONTROLS ENGINEER

Key Responsibilities

  • Design:
    • Develop HVAC temperature control systems
    • Implement lighting and access control systems
    • Oversee projects from inception to completion, including kickoff, submittal drawings, and final closeout
    • Independently design complex projects
    • Focus on enhancing energy conservation through design
    • Design controls for HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, and air handling units
    • Design BAS systems for HVAC, lighting, and access control using Delta Controls
  • Analysis and Estimation:
    • Prepare cost estimates for control systems in commercial, industrial, and institutional settings
    • Manage design/build budgeting
    • Conduct energy utilization conservation calculations
    • Oversee labor budget management
    • Handle re-estimations, RFIs, and change orders
  • Communication:
    • Engage with clients to gather essential information for designs that meet their requirements while explaining options and benefits
    • Enhance technical knowledge through collaboration with colleagues and participate in cross-departmental training
    • Work with account managers on construction estimates and proposal development
    • Regularly communicate project progress, concerns, and challenges to management
  • Training and Development:
    • Utilize internal resources, including training materials and vendor classes, to enhance skills
    • Achieve or maintain expert knowledge of Delta product lines and BACnet protocols
    • Collaborate with experienced colleagues on increasingly complex projects


Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering preferred, or 10+ years of experience in building control systems or equivalent HVAC knowledge
  • Advanced understanding of HVAC systems and specifications
  • Familiarity with DDC, electric, and pneumatic control systems
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities
  • Commitment to a collaborative team environment
  • Exceptional leadership, communication (both written and verbal), and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • Preferred Credentials:
  • LEED GA/AP
  • CEM
  • PE and affiliation with ASHRAE
