Job Overview

The field of Materials Applications Process Automation is pivotal in supporting the innovative strategies for Electric Vehicle (EV) manufacturing and the global deployment of manufacturing capabilities. This area significantly influences the integrated processes involved in battery production, e-driveline assembly, and vehicle manufacturing across the entire Electric Vehicle range (BEV/PHEV/FHEV).

Role Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of processes, tools, equipment, and engineering standards in the Materials Applications Process Automation domain, focusing on:
    1. Surface Treatment of Materials
    2. Liquid Dispensing and Inspection of Materials
    3. Heating and Cooling Treatments for Materials
    4. Transfer Molding of Materials
  • Collaborate with Product Design and Global Manufacturing Engineering teams to identify and prioritize technology development initiatives that align with global manufacturing goals.
  • Establish and communicate the Current State and Future State roadmaps for manufacturing strategies in Materials Applications Process Automation.
  • Research and benchmark best practices and emerging technologies in the industry.
  • Drive the development of manufacturing technologies and establish core competencies within the organization, including:
    1. Methods for Surface Treatment such as Laser and Plasma techniques.
    2. Liquid Dispensing and Inspection techniques for various materials.
    3. Heating and Cooling treatment methods, including Induction Heating.
    4. Transfer Molding techniques for thermosetting materials.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in developing and implementing new manufacturing technologies, ensuring adherence to established procedures and methodologies.
  • Plan and oversee the installation of prototype tooling and equipment, coordinating with internal and external partners for testing and validation.
  • Manage project activities and maintain a flexible work schedule to meet project requirements effectively.
  • Oversee the administration of project portfolios, including budget management and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and present technical and strategic documentation for review at various organizational levels.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer by creating and sharing core technology documentation with Global Manufacturing Engineering personnel.
  • Engage in mentoring and coaching activities to promote a culture of innovation within the engineering teams.
  • Demonstrate initiative and capability for potential advancement into a leadership role within the technical domain.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Self-motivated with strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Digital 3D/Simulation Tools and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of materials applications in EV manufacturing.
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing and process automation.
  • Familiarity with program planning and implementation.
  • Expertise in Data Analysis and Statistical Process Control.
