Amtec Inc. is seeking a skilled Automation Controls Engineer to join our team. This role requires expertise in Siemens technology and the ability to work during the night shift from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Controls Engineer, you will:
- Provide essential electrical controls support to ensure the seamless operation of Heavy Duty Engine (HDE) Machining Operations.
- Collaborate with Maintenance Supervisors, Mechanical Engineers, and Quality Department members to maintain the operational readiness of machining equipment.
- Troubleshoot, modify, and support hardware and software for PLC, CNC, HMI, and robotic controls.
- Manage device-level networks and support servo and variable frequency drive systems.
- Implement and maintain machining monitoring systems, ensuring effective integration with higher-level systems.
- Apply control technologies to enhance both new and existing machining processes.
- Oversee control designs for new machining equipment procurement.
- Provide technical assistance to machining operations and support a collaborative team in diagnosing and repairing CNC and Assembly Machining Operations.
- Assist Skilled Tradesmen in interpreting technical drawings and OEM documentation for troubleshooting and repairs.
Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field, or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Proficiency in manufacturing equipment hardware and software design practices, including PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, and robotics.
- Familiarity with PC hardware and commercially available software.
- Understanding of network and database operations, as well as electrical codes and safety standards.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Capability to read, interpret, and create technical drawings related to facility infrastructure and testing equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Siemens Step 7 PLCs, TIA Portal, and Siemens 840D NC Programming.
- Familiarity with Fanuc robots and Cognex vision control systems.
- Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs and fluid systems.
- Understanding of machining processes including metal cutting and press force monitoring.
- Experience with maintenance management systems such as Maximo and SAP.
