Position Summary

The Lead Controls Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and directing complex systems and projects within the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of controls engineering principles and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with a team to plan and execute intricate systems and projects, including vendor research, technical specification development, and timeline creation.
  • Take charge of the controls segment for both internal and external projects.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety standards throughout engineering practices.
  • Support and implement hardware and software solutions for PLC, CNC, and HMI controls.
  • Manage device-level networks and support servo and VFD hardware/software implementations.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing monitoring systems, ensuring seamless integration with higher-level systems.
  • Utilize established processes and standards to meet project needs and track progress.
  • Oversee funding planning and tracking for complex projects, adhering to client funding principles.
  • Proactively manage budgets to align with cost targets.
  • Identify project shortfalls and develop effective countermeasures independently.
  • Employ appropriate project management tools to oversee tasks effectively.
  • Lead project teams across various departments, including production, maintenance, and quality assurance.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives and conduct market screenings for implementation.
  • Prioritize tasks based on established job priorities and monitor progress to ensure timely project completion.
  • Apply advanced controls technology to enhance existing processes and develop optimal manufacturing solutions.
  • Specify and assist in control designs for new manufacturing equipment procurement.
  • Provide technical assistance and support for manufacturing operations.
  • Engage in design reviews with suppliers to ensure optimal equipment design.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in controls engineering.
  • Proficiency in Siemens controls.
  • Project management or supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Experience with global projects is a plus.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing controls equipment design practices and standards.
  • Experience with PC hardware and Microsoft Windows in a networked manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in a project lead role is essential.
  • Willingness to travel, including international travel (approximately 10%).
  • AutoCAD experience with controls-related drawings is preferred.
