POSITION PURPOSE

The Chief Banking Officer serves as a pivotal leader within the market, overseeing community bank office(s) for a designated area or region. This role is accountable for steering business development, ensuring customer satisfaction, fostering community leadership, promoting corporate culture, and achieving strategic objectives. The Chief Banking Officer is tasked with formulating and executing strategies aimed at enhancing market position and profitability.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Master's degree or equivalent; or ten to fifteen years of relevant financial experience and/or training; or a suitable combination of education and experience.
  • Proven leader and financial executive with 10-15 years of executive-level experience in finance and/or banking, demonstrating strong leadership capabilities.
  • A minimum of 5 years in management roles.
  • Experience in budget management and achieving financial outcomes.
  • Comprehensive understanding of credit principles, lending laws, and regulations.
  • 7-10 years of experience in commercial and retail lending.
  • In-depth knowledge of retail banking products and services.
  • Strong financial and regulatory expertise within the banking sector.
  • Graduate School of Banking is preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Under the guidance of the business banking leader, develop and implement overall market financial growth and profitability targets while ensuring safety and soundness.
  2. Provide leadership and engage in community activities to enhance the Bank's presence and reputation. Encourage officer involvement in key community organizations.
  3. Lead by example, communicating with a focus on mission and values consistent with the Bank's vision. Maintain high levels of employee engagement and morale.
  4. Exhibit strong sales skills, personally driving the sales process, and actively participating in business development efforts.
  5. Recommend and assist with various projects related to the development and implementation of effective strategic plans, policies, and procedures.
  6. Collaborate closely with the District Retail Manager on retail branch management, ensuring sales and referral focus and achievement of retail sales goals.
  7. Work with the Mortgage Loan Officer to develop a profitable consumer and residential real estate loan portfolio.
  8. Partner with the business banking leader to cultivate a high-quality commercial loan portfolio.
  9. Coordinate with the marketing officer to define and lead centralized marketing efforts, ensuring alignment with market initiatives and budget parameters.
  10. Ensure effective daily operations of the market, including compliance with regulations and profitable operations within budgetary guidelines.
  11. Implement and direct bank policies and procedures in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  12. In collaboration with the Business Banking Leader and human resources, ensure adequate staffing and provide necessary training and development for staff members.
  13. Work with the information technology department to implement IT and data management strategies for product development and compliance.
  14. Assist in the preparation and adherence to annual budgets for activities in the defined market area.
