Position Overview

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will report directly to the Board of Directors and will be accountable for the comprehensive leadership and administration of the organization's mission, events, and financial goals.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • In collaboration with the Board of Directors, provide visionary leadership and strategic guidance to further the organization's mission and objectives.
  • Ensure that the long-term strategy of the organization aligns with its mission and that consistent progress is made.
  • Lead the development of programs, organizational plans, and financial strategies in partnership with the Board, executing policies as authorized.
  • Maintain close communication with the Board to provide updates, collaborate on strategic initiatives, and ensure alignment with the organization's goals.
  • Oversee daily operations, including event planning and execution, to ensure the organization functions smoothly.
  • Manage marketing and communication efforts, developing effective strategies for branding and outreach.

Fundraising and Development

  • Establish relationships with community organizations and businesses to cultivate sponsorships and increase funding.
  • Represent the organization at events and activities.
  • Design and implement ambitious fundraising strategies to meet or exceed financial targets.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance membership and sponsorship, fostering positive relationships with donors.
  • Oversee the organization's budget and financial management to ensure sustainability and growth, working with the Board to adhere to budgetary guidelines.
  • Ensure that sufficient funds are available to support the organization's operations.

Board Engagement and Development

  • Act as the staff liaison to the Board of Directors.
  • Attend all Board meetings and prepare agendas in consultation with the Board President.
  • Provide the Board with informed recommendations and updates on the organization's status.
  • Identify and recruit dedicated board members, facilitating their orientation and ongoing development while promoting a culture of open communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Non-Profit Management, Sports Management); advanced degree preferred.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Rome Group.
  • Demonstrated experience in nonprofit management or executive roles, with a successful track record.
  • Familiarity with the running or sports industry is advantageous.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, and perform tasks requiring bending and standing for extended periods.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Schedule and Compensation

This is a part-time role, approximately 32 hours per week, with flexible scheduling. Some evening and weekend hours may be required based on event schedules. Compensation ranges from $60,000 to $70,000 annually, with potential for growth through enhanced fundraising efforts.
