General Overview

As the Senior Inventory Financial Analyst, you will be tasked with evaluating, reconciling, and reporting on product margin-related activities across North America. This role requires expertise in inventory valuation, operational inventory management, inventory systems and integrations, standard costing, account reconciliations, and internal management reporting. A strong inclination towards systems and a commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the accounting function are essential to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and overall performance of the Inventory Accounting Team.

Your knowledge of cost and inventory accounting principles, along with an understanding of inventory control practices, will be crucial. You should be dependable, capable of executing tasks both independently and collaboratively, and able to work effectively across various functions. Comfort with ambiguity and a proven history of developing new processes in response to evolving business needs are vital attributes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage accounting and financial reporting for inventory and margin-related accounts.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries and conduct variance analysis.
  • Contribute to monthly forecasting inputs and annual budgeting processes.
  • Collaborate closely with internal operations and finance teams to understand and optimize processes.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of margin accounts to continuously enhance and refine forecasts for Other Product Costs.
  • Conduct inventory reserve adjustments and analysis, including reserves for obsolete inventory, returns, and repairs.
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and projects as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • BS/BA degree in accounting or finance; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in accounting, with a focus on cost and inventory accounting, preferably in a retail context.
  • Proficient in product costing, inventory management, variance analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Advanced skills in Excel.
  • Experience with Standard Cost Inventory Methodology.
  • Familiarity with large enterprise ERP systems and related reporting and analysis tools.
  • Able to thrive in a team-oriented environment while remaining adaptable to changes in the work scope and responsibilities.
  • Experience in system implementation is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft D365, TM1, Power BI, and Tableau is advantageous.
Compensation Range: $100,000 - $116,000

Pay Range: $88,000 - $132,000

At Patagonia, compensation ranges are determined based on the market median for similar roles, with individual pay varying based on skills, experience, and budget considerations.
