General Overview

As a Senior Inventory Accountant, you will play a crucial role in examining, reconciling, and reporting on product margin activities across North America. This position requires expertise in inventory costing, operational inventory management, inventory systems and integrations, standard costing, account reconciliations, and reporting for internal management evaluations. A strong aptitude for systems is essential, as is a commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the accounting function to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and overall performance of the Inventory Accounting Group.

You should possess a solid understanding of cost and inventory accounting principles, along with a grasp of inventory control methodologies. Reliability and the ability to execute tasks both independently and collaboratively are vital, as is the capability to work effectively across various functions. Comfort with ambiguity and a proven history of developing new processes in response to evolving business needs are also key attributes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage accounting and financial reporting for inventory and margin-related accounts.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries and conduct variance analysis.
  • Support monthly forecasting inputs and annual budgeting processes.
  • Collaborate closely with internal operations and finance teams to enhance processes.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of margin accounts to continuously refine forecasts for Other Product Costs.
  • Conduct inventory reserve adjustments and analyses, including reserves for obsolete inventory, returns, and repairs.
  • Execute ad hoc reporting and projects as needed.
Qualifications:
  • BS/BA degree in accounting or finance; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • 5 years of relevant accounting experience, with a focus on cost and inventory accounting, preferably in a retail context.
  • Proficient in product costing, inventory management, variance analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Advanced skills in Excel.
  • Experience with Standard Cost Inventory Methodology.
  • Familiarity with large enterprise ERP systems and related reporting and analysis tools.
  • Able to thrive in a team-oriented environment while remaining adaptable to changes in the work landscape and responsibilities.
  • Experience in system implementation is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft D365, TM1, Power BI, and Tableau is advantageous.
Compensation:

Hiring range: $100,000 - $116,000

Pay range: $88,000 - $132,000. Individual compensation within this range may vary based on skills, experience, and budget availability.
