The Arts Education Facilitator (Dance) is a skilled dance practitioner and educator dedicated to fostering creativity among children, adolescents, adults, and educators. This role encompasses teaching various components of the Arts Education Partnership Program, conducting Professional Development Workshops, and facilitating the Day @ the Straz Field Trip Program, along with other instructional initiatives as assigned.

Situated in a vibrant urban environment, the Straz offers adaptable hours, event-driven schedules including evenings and weekends, and a collaborative work atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement educational arts programming tailored to diverse age groups, from Pre-K to adults.
  • Instruct students in multiple dance styles, including ballet, contemporary, tap, or jazz.
  • Provide constructive evaluations for each student, offering specific feedback and guidance for further study.
  • Submit course outlines as required to the Community Engagement and Dance Departments.
  • Participate in professional development sessions and staff meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Community Partnership Coordinator on scheduling and curriculum development.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as submitting lesson plans, assessments, teaching schedules, and other assigned duties.
  • Engage in pre-planning and post-planning discussions with Partnership Site Staff and the Community Partnership Coordinator.
  • Act as a representative for the Community Partnership Program at community events as needed.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Extensive knowledge and proficiency in dance and performance.
  • Professional experience as an artist in the field within the last five years.
  • Proven ability to implement effective classroom management strategies to create a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Effective prioritization and multitasking abilities.
  • Collaborative decision-making skills within a team setting.
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Availability for a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must possess reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and appropriate auto insurance coverage.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Dance or a related discipline.
  • Relevant certification or substantial training and/or performance experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience as a dance instructor.

  • This role requires physical activities that involve the constant use of arms and legs, as well as moving the entire body to manage materials (such as props and costumes). The employee frequently needs to remain stationary and use hands and arms for communication, teaching, and choreography.
  • Must be able to transport promotional and ticketing materials over short distances.
  • This position requires on-site work as a standard practice.
