Position Overview:

The Sales Support Representative plays a crucial role in assisting the sales team by providing administrative, clerical, and customer support. This position involves following up with clients and suppliers, processing orders and Purchase Orders, and generally supporting the sales office as a collaborative team member.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Input special orders, regular orders, and estimates into the point-of-sale system.
  • Facilitate non-stock product sourcing, pricing, and ordering.
  • Conduct millwork takeoffs based on blueprints or lists provided by customers or sales representatives.
  • Coordinate and oversee the delivery schedules of customer-specific orders to ensure timely and complete service.
  • Manage return to vendor processes, customer credits, and no-charge paperwork to relieve the outside sales team of these tasks.
  • Continuously enhance knowledge of market trends, product offerings, vendor portfolios, and emerging technologies.
  • Maintain the open quote contract system for select projects requiring price commitments throughout their duration.
  • Handle overflow customer inquiries via phone and address warehouse customer service needs as necessary.
  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents; effective communication skills when addressing groups of customers or employees.
  • Capable of solving practical problems and navigating various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Proficient in using computers and relevant applications, including Microsoft Suite, online shopping platforms, point-of-sale systems, and other retail technology.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong listening and presentation capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and utilize time efficiently.
  • Understanding of customer needs and requirements.
  • Research skills to identify key stakeholders and generate interest.

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent required; prior experience in inside sales is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regular lifting of 20 to 50 lbs; occasional lifting may exceed 50 lbs.
  • Routine bending, climbing, and twisting; ability to retrieve, stock, and move products.
  • Manual dexterity for operating cash registers and computers, as well as assembling products.
  • Capability to see and read product labels, dispense product knowledge, and communicate effectively with customers.
  • Ability to stand and walk in a retail environment for extended periods.
  • Proficient in moving stock using carts, hand trucks, and pallet jacks.
