Job Summary

The Chief Medical Officer of Primary Care at Henry Ford Health will provide strategic leadership for all outpatient Primary Care services delivered by providers across the organization. This role will report to the Executive Vice President & Chief Executive Officer of the Medical Group and the Sr. Vice President & Chief Primary Health Officer.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Quality and Safety: Collaborate with leaders to standardize, align, and improve quality and safety metrics.
  2. Operational Excellence: Promote national best practices to achieve objectives, evaluate impact, and review operational and administrative expenses.
  3. Strategic Growth: Partner with leaders to achieve growth strategies and targets in Primary Care.
  4. Care Model Development: Develop services and care models to optimize Primary Care practices, leading to improved professional satisfaction and engagement among Primary Care providers.
  5. Performance Metrics: Oversee the development of standard performance measures, clinical protocols, and improvement plans across Primary Care.
  6. Resource Stewardship: Responsible for patient safety and quality of care variation through the use of evidence-based care guidelines and analytics.
  7. Clinical Productivity: Set metrics, monitor, and manage clinical productivity within Primary Care.
  8. Care Experience: Optimize care experience, including patients' access to care.
  9. Financial Performance: Responsible for the financial performance of Primary Care.
  10. Philanthropy: Partner with Philanthropy to develop and implement a system-wide Primary Care philanthropic campaign.
  11. External Representation: Participate in external forums and represent Henry Ford Health on the national front.
Requirements
  • Doctorate degree in Medicine with Residency Training in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics.
  • Certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics.
  • Strong clinical experience as a Primary Care physician.
  • MBA or MHA preferred.
  • Ten (10) or more years of clinical and executive leadership experience, including responsibility for fiscal and medical staff management.
  • Experience in an extensive, advanced, complex health system is essential.
  • A proven track record in improving quality and safety in a complex health system is required.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of current trends in health care are essential.
