Job Overview

The Senior Corporate Accountant plays a crucial role in delivering accounting services to the Accounting Department. This position is integral in assisting the accounting and finance teams to maintain our company's internal and external financial relationships. The role involves supporting the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, which includes the recording of journal entries, performing reconciliations, and compiling data for financial reporting. Additionally, this position aids in the external audit process and requires a solid understanding of US GAAP and its application within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute month-end, quarter-end, and annual closing and financial reporting activities.
  • Compile and analyze monthly account information to prepare and record journal entries for assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses.
  • Conduct monthly balance sheet and expense account reconciliations.
  • Provide guidance and training to accounting clerks.
  • Drive process enhancements within the accounting and finance department.
  • Assist in the preparation of internal management reports and external financial packages.
  • Facilitate external audits by generating support schedules and collaborating with auditors.
  • Research and provide insights on US GAAP accounting treatments.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Operational Responsibilities

The candidate must possess the ability to prioritize various tasks and complete them efficiently. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential. The role requires effective communication within a fast-paced environment, both with the operations team and independently. Proficiency in MS applications, particularly Word, Excel, and SharePoint, is necessary. The ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment while maintaining a positive demeanor towards customers, colleagues, and management is crucial. The position involves a variety of tasks that require sound judgment and adherence to company policies and procedures. A successful candidate will be both a collaborative team member and a proactive self-starter, with excellent interpersonal skills and computer proficiency.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, or a bachelor's degree in another discipline accompanied by a Certified Public Accountant designation.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in standard accounting functions, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external parties.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Familiarity with relevant technical accounting and reporting standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant applications.
  • Experience with Netsuite and/or FloQast is advantageous.

Working Conditions

  1. Ability to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand and arm movements frequently, with occasional overhead reaching.
  2. Capable of operating general computer equipment, including laptops, keyboards, and mice with ease.
  3. Ability to sit for extended periods in a desk setting.
  4. Proficient in using visual acuity for viewing computer monitors and analyzing data for prolonged periods.
