Role Overview:
We invite you to join us in shaping how Amazon Music interacts with fans, artists, and creators globally. The Data, Insights, Science, and Optimization, Consumer Product and Tech (DISCO CPT) team is in search of a Data Scientist to collaborate with a talented group of Data Scientists, Business Intelligence Engineers, and Data Engineers. This team focuses on analyzing extensive data sets, delivering analytics and insights, and developing models and algorithms that enhance the Music product experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
Predictive Modeling:
- Create predictive models to detect potentially fraudulent streaming activities or content uploads.
- Employ anomaly detection techniques to identify unusual patterns in user behavior and content metadata.
- Work alongside the FCRM team to refine fraud detection models and enhance the accuracy of fraud identification.
- Develop models for automating metadata enrichment and quality assurance processes.
- Analyze key performance metrics like MAU and HPC, automating the deep dive into variances.

Experimentation and A/B Testing:
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to design robust experiments assessing the impact of new features or algorithms.
- Analyze experiment results, derive insights, and provide recommendations for solution optimization.
- Partner with Senior Data Scientists to establish key experimentation success metrics.

Deep Dives and Analysis:
- Develop metrics and rules to identify metadata tag defects, enhancing metadata quality and enabling precise catalog tiering.
- Analyze the current state of metadata, including genre coverage and artist disambiguation, proposing strategies for improvement.
- Investigate the relationship between metadata quality enhancements and customer engagement to prioritize ingestion and coverage.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with product, catalog, and engineering teams to translate business challenges into analytical science initiatives.
- Promote the use of experimentation and advanced analytics across the organization.
- Mentor and train fellow analysts and data scientists to enhance their skills.

Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience as a data scientist.
- 3+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R, SAS, Matlab).
- 3+ years of experience with machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Python, Perl, or another scripting language.
- Experience in a machine learning or data scientist role within a large technology organization.

Compensation:
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across various US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,500/year in our lowest geographic market to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is determined by several factors, including market location and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
