Job Overview and Responsibilities

OFFICE ASSISTANT (TYPING) – COAST FIELD DIVISION

This role is integral to the operational efficiency of the department, providing essential support under the guidance of the Administrative Officer I.

As a key member of the administrative team, the Office Assistant is expected to demonstrate outstanding communication abilities, proficient cash handling skills, and a meticulous attention to detail. The ideal candidate will exhibit critical thinking skills and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Dependability, punctuality, and the capacity to maintain professionalism are essential, along with the flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. The ability to remain on your feet for extended periods is also a crucial aspect of this position.

Candidates selected for this position will undergo a thorough background investigation process, including Live Scan fingerprinting, prior to their appointment.

This position allows for a maximum of 1500 hours of work annually within a 12-month timeframe.

Please note that this role is not eligible for telework arrangements.

Working Environment

Employees in this role may be required to work shifts ranging from 4 to 10 hours, depending on operational requirements. Candidates must be prepared to work in various weather conditions and engage tactfully with visitors from diverse backgrounds while standing for extended periods.

Special Qualifications

  • The position necessitates the ability to type at a minimum speed as specified in the Class Specifications. A valid typing certificate confirming your typing speed must be obtained prior to employment.
  • A background investigation clearance is required before hiring.

Typing certificates issued within the last four years, validated through a five-minute typing test meeting the required standards, will be accepted. Candidates may find free typing tests available at designated career centers.
