Role Summary:

As the Senior Vice President of Material Innovation, you will spearhead the strategic direction and execution of seasonal material, trim, and color development initiatives. Your role will involve leading a dedicated team through the entire process, from conceptualization to market launch, ensuring that our products consistently surpass consumer expectations. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leadership: Cultivate a people-centric environment that recognizes and nurtures individual strengths, fostering a team committed to shared objectives while integrating enjoyment into the workplace.
  • Project Management: Oversee the seasonal development timelines for materials, trims, and colors, contributing to the evolution and execution of processes.
  • Innovation: Drive the development of materials and trims from initial brief to final production, guiding teams through each phase of the process.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product teams to ensure innovative practices in material and trim development that enhance product performance and value.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish and analyze departmental KPIs as the business landscape evolves, focusing on sustainability, cost efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Partnership: Collaborate with manufacturers to integrate new techniques and technologies that meet the functional and aesthetic expectations of our consumers.
  • Resource Management: Maintain a comprehensive library of approved textiles and trims, ensuring all documentation is current and accessible.
  • Team Development: Lead and mentor the material, trim, and color development teams, promoting career growth and managing performance effectively.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Educate cross-functional partners on material characteristics to facilitate informed decision-making that positively impacts product design.
  • Alignment: Coordinate with innovation and testing teams to ensure all materials meet the commercialization standards.
  • Sustainability Collaboration: Partner with sustainability leaders to align material development with the company’s long-term sustainability goals.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Textile Design or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 15+ years of experience in engineering and testing performance textiles.
  • Proven track record in team leadership and management for over a decade.
  • In-depth knowledge of textile testing methods and material processes on a global scale.
  • Advanced understanding of various material constructions and their engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in PLM systems and office software.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
