ROLE OVERVIEW
This Housing Support Specialist position is integral to delivering services and housing assistance to participants in the Family Housing Program (FHP) and Housing Stabilization Program (HSP). The FHP assists families during their initial year in public housing through the Denver Housing Authority (DHA), while the HSP aids families experiencing literal homelessness through a 12-24 month Rapid Rehousing model.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement service modalities such as Housing First, Trauma-Informed Care, Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, and Critical Time Intervention.
  • Conduct needs-based assessments and engage in community outreach.
  • Provide comprehensive case management services, including housing navigation and retention support.
  • Connect clients to income resources and public benefits, and facilitate rental assistance requests.
  • Recruit and mediate with landlords, and participate in community meetings and trainings.
  • Collaborate with service providers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care.
  • Accompany participants to appointments as necessary.
  • Utilize a personal vehicle for facilitating housing solutions for enrolled participants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Ensure participant voices are prioritized in programming.
  • Coordinate wrap-around services with team members and community providers.
  • Utilize standardized screening tools to complete needs assessments.
  • Manage the DHA voucher allocation process, ensuring timely communication with partners.
  • Attend housing orientations, lease signings, and educational opportunities for participants.
  • Meet participants in their communities and provide transportation for case management.
  • Collect necessary documentation for housing maintenance, including identification and income changes.
  • Assist clients with housing searches, rental applications, and understanding tenant rights.
  • Maintain accurate reporting within data systems and physical files in line with grant guidelines.
  • Create safety plans to support participant well-being.
  • Engage in community outreach to identify eligible households facing housing instability.
  • Deliver services equitably, adhering to relevant service modalities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in human services, social work, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver's license and state-mandated automobile insurance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of current housing market trends and available resources.
  • Experience working with homeless populations.
  • Familiarity with public housing authorities.

SKILLS:
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and cloud-based applications.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Willingness to use a vehicle for service delivery across the Denver Metro area.
  • Collaboration with staff at the Bannock Youth & Family Center.

POSITION TYPE:
Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends required.

SALARY RANGE:
$21.00-$23.00/hr
