Job Overview

PRIMARY ROLE: Join a dedicated team committed to providing support and assistance to clients residing in a supportive housing environment. As a Front Desk Attendant, you will employ a compassionate and trauma-informed approach to create a welcoming atmosphere for residents and their guests.

This role involves collaboration with on-site staff, including property management and resource navigators, to ensure the well-being of residents in a permanent supportive housing facility designed for individuals facing homelessness and related challenges.

This is a part-time position with a consistent shift on Sundays from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with opportunities for additional hours as needed.

  • Verify the identity of residents and visitors seeking entry by checking identification and addressing inquiries.
  • Refer questions or concerns to the appropriate resource navigation or property management teams.
  • Monitor the flow of residents and visitors entering and exiting the premises.
  • Document incidents and complete necessary reports before the end of your shift.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in common areas of the property.
  • Implement and uphold the Visitor Policy effectively.
  • Ensure visitors comply with designated timeframes for entry and exit.
  • Manage visitor sign-in and sign-out procedures.
  • Notify residents of visitor arrivals and facilitate their escorting in and out of the building.
  • Enforce house rules among residents and promptly escalate any lease violations or maintenance concerns.
  • Handle incoming calls at the front desk and direct them to the appropriate personnel.
  • Monitor security systems to ensure the safety of all individuals on the property.
  • Exercise discretion to contact law enforcement or emergency services when necessary.
  • Respond to fire alarms and other emergency situations, reporting them to the appropriate management personnel.

Essential Qualifications

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to learn and apply a trauma-informed approach.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Demonstrated compassion and respect for individuals with brain injuries, disabilities, and those experiencing homelessness.
  • Skills in de-escalating challenging situations.
  • Completion of a background check.
  • Experience or knowledge in working with individuals with cognitive disabilities or behavioral health challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual capabilities in English and Spanish.
  • Experience in applying person-centered and culturally competent practices in professional interactions.
  • Background in engaging with individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Experience with individuals involved in the criminal justice system.
  • Familiarity with crisis management protocols.
