Position Overview:

Discovery is in search of a skilled and enthusiastic Laboratory Technician to become a vital member of our innovative Genomics team. In this role, you will be instrumental in advancing our scientific initiatives. A Typical Day for a Lab Technician at Discovery Life Sciences:
  • Conduct tasks in accordance with established protocols.
  • Maintain a precise and current laboratory notebook, documenting work as necessary.
  • Evaluate initial results for quality assurance and consistency.
  • Engage in routine laboratory upkeep, including cleaning equipment and replenishing shared supplies.
Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience):
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in a relevant life sciences discipline.
  • Familiarity with fundamental laboratory operations such as pipetting and basic laboratory calculations.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities along with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to identify and resolve issues effectively.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Operate essential laboratory instruments, including centrifuges and liquid handling systems.
  • Execute all tasks in compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and organizational policies.
  • Adhere to Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and regulatory standards (e.g., Personal Protective Equipment - PPE).
  • Identify and communicate material and reagent requirements to team leaders.
  • Maintain all necessary documentation as mandated by various processes (laboratory notebook, sample data, worksheets, etc.).
  • Participate in the general maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with all pertinent regulatory standards within the biopharmaceutical sector (e.g., GCP/GCLP, 21 CFR Part 11, CAP/CLIA, HIPAA).
  • Follow established protocols and SOPs diligently.
  • Take direction from senior laboratory personnel within specified timelines.
  • Review laboratory data for quality and consistency, as needed.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting within the laboratory environment, as required.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance is a fundamental aspect of this role.
