Position Summary

We are in search of skilled and driven individuals to join our team. QTEC Aerospace operates a specialized laboratory dedicated to the analysis and exploitation of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) that pose a threat to national security. Our mission involves collaborating with law enforcement, intelligence, and military entities to gather and disseminate critical forensic data and intelligence related to these devices, ultimately aiding in the prevention of future attacks.


The selected Electronics Technician will possess both technical and analytical skills, responsible for performing circuit and schematic evaluations, creating precise device schematics, and conducting in-depth electronics research and component analysis. The insights derived from this analysis will be vital for senior military leaders in making informed policy decisions regarding force protection and directing significant acquisition programs for explosive-resistant technologies.


Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting reverse engineering of IEDs to ascertain their functionality and triggering mechanisms.
  • Documenting electronic circuit schematics utilized in IEDs.
  • Assisting in the signal analysis and RF characterization of wireless IEDs.
  • Recovering digital forensic data from IED electronic memory.
  • Supporting the construction of replicas of actual IEDs for training and demonstration purposes.
  • Providing prompt responses to information requests to address critical knowledge gaps.
  • Developing tools to facilitate the research, analysis, and characterization of IED electronics.
  • Offering technical expertise in the development of software tools.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Electronics or a related technical field, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficiency with electronic and computer equipment, electronic analysis, schematic development, circuit design software, and soldering techniques.
  • Experience in testing electronic or electrical devices using standard laboratory equipment, including oscilloscopes, power supplies, RF signal generators, waveform generators, audio analyzers, DSP analyzers, and multimeters.
  • Ability to perform analysis, generate schematics, and troubleshoot electronic or electrical devices at the component level under various conditions.
  • Knowledge of electronic circuit design and PCB layout.
  • Competence in preparing written documentation, including reports, test plans, design specifications, and training materials.
  • Capability to present findings to clients and external partners, engage with client engineers, and address technical inquiries.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Self-driven and customer-focused.

Security Clearance Requirement

Candidates must possess and maintain a minimum DoD TOP SECRET level security clearance.
