Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Reimbursement Strategist to join our team at Moffitt Cancer Center.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our reimbursement efforts, ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement from Medicare and Medicaid. This includes preparing and filing Medicare Cost Reports, analyzing cost report results, and maintaining and reviewing cost allocation statistics. Additionally, the individual will oversee and supervise staff, complete annual performance evaluations, and provide ongoing mentoring.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and file Medicare Cost Reports in accordance with all Medicare regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Analyze cost report results to ensure optimal reimbursement considering our cost-based/PPS exempt status.
  • Maintain and review cost allocation statistics, recommending changes as necessary.
  • Respond to third-party auditors, Medicare Administrative Contractors (MAC), and financial auditor information requests.
  • Review and respond to proposed audit adjustments, calculating financial impact on any open years.
  • Assess and identify causes of actual costs versus TEFRA cap variances, identifying needs for and preparing TEFRA exception requests as necessary.
  • Ensure completeness of interim cost reports and resulting true-up G/L entries.
  • Complete monthly reviews of Medicare and Medicaid contractual allowances and third-party settlements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in healthcare finance, including 4 years in hospital reimbursement and experience with cost reporting.
  • Preferred experience includes patient billing and general ledger software, Medicare auditors, and defending proposed adjustments.
Compensation

Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plan, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
