DIRECT REPORTING: Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager

We are looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to enhance our engineering team. This position will collaborate with multiple departments, including production, design engineering, quality assurance, and customer support. The selected candidate will be tasked with creating methods and sequences for manufacturing processes, particularly for complex machined components and assemblies, ensuring compliance with design and quality specifications. Furthermore, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer will engage in ongoing improvement initiatives that align with Lean Manufacturing principles, such as setup time reduction and Kaizen methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and document detailed processes and routes for manufactured components to meet organizational objectives regarding waste reduction and lead time enhancement.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes, utilizing insights from product design, machining techniques, materials, and feedback from suppliers, machine operators, and production staff.
  • Design and implement specialized fixtures and gauges for manufactured components.
  • Utilize statistical methods to identify root causes of failures, potentially leading to modifications in design, tolerances, or processing techniques.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives in line with Lean Manufacturing, including setup time reduction, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and 5S practices.
  • Evaluate product designs for manufacturability.
  • Assist in the assessment, acquisition, and commissioning of new capital equipment.
  • Develop and oversee project plans and timelines, ensuring that tasks are completed within established timeframes and budgetary limits.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of drafting standards, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and the ability to interpret engineering drawings accurately.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices by attending relevant workshops, reviewing industry publications, and engaging with professional organizations.
  • Provide guidance to team members, serve as the primary contact for significant projects, set project goals and objectives, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Expertise in ERP systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project). Proficiency in AutoCAD, Solid Edge, or similar design software is essential, with experience in 3D modeling preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to handle situations with limited standardization. Proficient in interpreting various forms of instructions.
  • Comfortable with mathematical concepts including probability, statistical inference, geometry, and trigonometry, with the ability to apply these concepts in practical scenarios.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting technical documents such as part and assembly drawings, safety protocols, and operational guidelines. Capable of drafting routine reports and effectively communicating with diverse groups.
  • A collaborative team player with a proven track record of working across departments to achieve organizational goals.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing Technology is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • At least 3-5 years of engineering experience is required.
  • Experience in machining and high mix-low volume production environments is beneficial.
