We are in search of a Senior Manufacturing Engineer who will play a pivotal role in our operations. This position entails collaboration with multiple departments, including production, design engineering, quality assurance, and customer support. The primary responsibility is to formulate methods and sequences for manufacturing processes, especially for intricate and complex machined components and assemblies, ensuring compliance with design and quality benchmarks. Furthermore, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer will engage in continuous enhancement initiatives aligned with Lean Manufacturing principles, focusing on set-up reduction and Kaizen activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and outline detailed processes and routes for manufactured components to meet organizational objectives regarding waste reduction and lead time optimization.
  • Analyze processes through detailed evaluations, utilizing insights from product design, machining, materials, and feedback from suppliers, machine operators, and production staff.
  • Design and implement fixtures and gauges for manufactured components.
  • Utilize statistical methods to identify root causes of failures, potentially leading to modifications in design, tolerances, or processing techniques.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives in line with Lean Manufacturing, including set-up reduction, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and 5S methodologies.
  • Assess product designs for manufacturability.
  • Contribute to the evaluation, acquisition, and commissioning of new capital equipment.
  • Develop and oversee project plans and timelines, ensuring activities are completed within established timeframes and budget constraints.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of drafting standards, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and the ability to interpret technical drawings comprehensively.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices by attending workshops, reviewing literature, and engaging with professional organizations.
  • Provide leadership to departmental colleagues, act as the primary contact for significant projects, establish project goals and objectives, and offer training and mentorship to junior personnel.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient in ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project. Experience with AutoCAD, Solid Edge, or similar design software is essential, with a preference for 3D modeling experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage situations with limited standardization. Capable of interpreting various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats.
  • Comfortable with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, geometry, and trigonometry. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to real-world scenarios.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting documents such as part drawings, assembly drawings, safety protocols, and operational instructions. Capable of drafting routine reports and correspondence, as well as effectively communicating with groups of customers or colleagues.
  • A collaborative team player with a proven ability to thrive in a cooperative environment across different departments to achieve organizational goals.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing Technology is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • At least 3-5 years of engineering experience.
  • Experience in machining and high mix-low volume environments is beneficial.
