We are looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer who will work collaboratively with various departments, including production, design engineering, quality assurance, and customer support. This position is essential for creating methods and sequences for manufacturing operations, particularly for complex machined components and assemblies, ensuring compliance with design and quality standards. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will also engage in continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Lean Manufacturing principles, focusing on set-up reduction and Kaizen events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement detailed processes and routes for manufactured components to meet organizational objectives related to waste reduction and lead time enhancement.
- Analyze processes through comprehensive evaluations, utilizing knowledge of product design, machining techniques, materials, and insights from suppliers, machine operators, and production staff.
- Design and create fixtures and gauges for manufactured components.
- Identify root causes of failures using statistical analysis, which may lead to modifications in design, tolerances, or processing methods.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects that align with Lean Manufacturing methodologies, including set-up reduction, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and 5S practices.
- Assess product designs for manufacturability and efficiency.
- Contribute to the evaluation, acquisition, and commissioning of new capital equipment.
- Develop and oversee project plans and timelines, ensuring that tasks are completed within established timeframes and budget constraints.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of drafting standards, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and the ability to interpret technical drawings accurately.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices by attending workshops, reviewing literature, and engaging with professional organizations.
- Provide guidance to departmental colleagues, serve as the primary contact for significant projects, establish project goals and objectives, and mentor junior staff.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient in ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project. Experience with AutoCAD, Solid Edge, or similar design software is essential, with a preference for 3D modeling experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex situations with limited standardization. Capable of interpreting various forms of instructions.
- Comfortable with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, and geometry. Ability to apply these concepts to real-world scenarios.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting technical documents, including part and assembly drawings, safety protocols, and operational instructions. Capable of producing routine reports and effectively communicating with diverse groups.
- A collaborative team player with a proven ability to work across departments to achieve organizational goals.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing Technology is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
- At least 3-5 years of engineering experience.
- Experience in machining and high mix-low volume production environments is a plus.
