We are in search of a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to enhance our engineering team. This position involves collaboration with diverse functional teams, including production, design engineering, quality assurance, and customer support. The primary responsibility is to create and optimize methods and sequences for manufacturing operations, particularly for complex machined components and assemblies, ensuring compliance with design and quality specifications. Furthermore, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer will engage in continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Lean Manufacturing principles, such as setup optimization and Kaizen activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and document detailed processes and workflows for manufactured components to meet organizational objectives related to waste reduction and lead time enhancement.
- Analyze processes using process evaluation techniques, utilizing knowledge of product design, machining, materials, and insights from suppliers, machine operators, and production staff.
- Design and implement tools and gauges for manufactured components.
- Identify root causes of failures through statistical analysis, potentially leading to modifications in design, tolerances, or processing techniques.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects consistent with Lean Manufacturing, including setup optimization, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and 5S practices.
- Evaluate product designs for manufacturability.
- Assist in the assessment, acquisition, and commissioning of new capital equipment.
- Develop and oversee project plans and timelines, ensuring completion of activities within budget and schedule constraints.
- Possess a thorough understanding of drafting standards, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and the ability to interpret engineering drawings effectively.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices by attending workshops, reviewing literature, and engaging in professional organizations.
- Provide guidance to departmental colleagues, act as the primary contact for significant projects, establish project goals and objectives, and mentor junior staff.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient in ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project. Experience with AutoCAD, Solid Edge, or similar design software is essential, with a preference for 3D modeling experience.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage situations with limited standardization. Capable of interpreting various forms of instructions, whether written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled.
- Comfortable with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, geometry, and trigonometry. Ability to apply these concepts to real-world scenarios.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting documents such as part drawings, assembly drawings, safety protocols, and operational instructions. Capable of drafting routine reports and correspondence, as well as effectively communicating with groups of clients or colleagues.
- A collaborative team player with a proven ability to excel in a cooperative environment across various departments to achieve organizational goals.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing Technology is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
- At least 3-5 years of engineering experience.
- Experience in machining and high mix-low volume production environments is beneficial.
