SUMMARY

The Housekeeping Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing and ensuring the efficient functioning of designated housekeeping sectors. This role involves guaranteeing that the housekeeping personnel have all necessary supplies to complete their tasks promptly. The Supervisor will provide attentive, courteous, and team-oriented service throughout the establishment while adhering to all standards set by Meruelo Group.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Manage and ensure the effective operation of the assigned area, ensuring rooms are cleaned efficiently and accurately, all guest-facing areas are maintained, and that tools and supplies are readily available.
  • Supervise, train, guide, and support all team members assigned to the area.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with safety regulations, including proper chemical usage and handling of hazardous materials.
  • Distribute tasks equitably among team members assigned to the station.
  • Ensure that VIP rooms and guests are properly managed and attended to.
  • Conduct daily briefings and schedule meetings with Guest Room Attendants and House Attendants.
  • Communicate effectively with the housekeeping department and other departments using Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams.
  • Follow up on any outstanding work orders for the assigned areas.
  • Ensure cleanliness in rooms, guest access areas, lockers, linen rooms, and supply closets.
  • Maintain appropriate supply levels on all assigned floors to ensure a conducive working environment for the team.
  • Perform daily inspections of guest rooms in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Conduct frequent visual inspections of guest rooms and assigned public areas.
  • Monitor the productivity of Guest Room Attendants and House Attendants, addressing any performance issues with the Director of Housekeeping.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to team members regarding departmental policies and guest service expectations.
  • Prepare and present annual performance reviews for House Attendants and some Guest Room Attendants with assistance from upper management.
  • Offer feedback and recommendations for promotions and career advancement.
  • Assist with the recruitment process as needed, ensuring objective hiring for open positions under their supervision.
  • Collaborate closely with upper management regarding scheduling and time-off requests.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Availability to work various shifts, including holidays, nights, and weekends as required by business needs.

• This position may require performing a combination of functions based on the hotel's needs.

• Ability to listen and respond to guest inquiries in a positive and professional manner.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Previous experience in housekeeping management is preferred.

• Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must possess the physical stamina and mental resilience to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while interacting with customers, management, and team members.

• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the facility; communicate verbally and audibly; use hands for various tasks.

• Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, and pulling.

• Team members must consistently be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

• Must be capable of operating cleaning equipment and handling cleaning supplies.

• Must be able to tolerate cleaning chemicals and their associated odors.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment. The noise level is typically loud, and employees may be exposed to odors and secondhand smoke. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
