Patient Services Manager

DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital stands as the largest facility within the DMC network, providing a wide array of services including a specialized heart center, comprehensive cancer care, geriatric services, emergency medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, and aesthetic treatments. The hospital is renowned for its innovative joint replacement program, which features advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques for knee and hip replacements, attracting patients nationwide. With over 21 outpatient care locations and ambulatory surgery centers across Wayne and Oakland Counties, Sinai-Grace is also one of the select hospitals in the country to receive a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation aimed at enhancing cardiac care standards.
Position Overview
Reporting directly to the nursing leadership at the assigned hospital site, and managing through subordinate staff, this role encompasses the management of a significant function, service, or process that underpins nursing operations. This position may also cater to managers overseeing multiple nursing units, ensuring comprehensive support across various departments.
The scope of this role is moderate, typically involving less than 50 full-time equivalent (FTE) direct or indirect reports across multiple nursing units, or managing a major nursing operational support function. Direct reports may include Clinical Managers and other high-level professional or administrative personnel.
The Patient Services Manager is accountable for patient care, including the planning, implementation, and evaluation of processes that enhance performance improvement, staffing efficiency, financial management, staff competency, and customer service outcomes within designated units. Collaboration with senior leadership and team members is essential to ensure that regulatory standards are effectively communicated, implemented, and monitored.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with healthcare team members to plan, implement, and evaluate departmental and hospital objectives.
- Identifying needs for policy development and revisions in alignment with departmental goals.
- Overseeing the creation and modification of departmental procedures and securing necessary approvals.
- Monitoring and revising operational processes, including input into organizational design and workflow quality.
- Initiating personnel actions, including hiring, disciplinary measures, and performance evaluations.
- Developing and assessing performance metrics for daily, monthly, and annual goals.
- Assisting in budget development and monitoring for assigned areas.
Compliance Statement: This role supports the standards outlined in DMC's Code of Conduct, fostering a commitment to legal and ethical practices while implementing audit recommendations. Activities will be monitored to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and DMC policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) is required; a Master's degree is preferred. If holding a Master's degree, either the Bachelor's or Master's must be in Nursing.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan.
- A minimum of three years of progressive nursing experience is required.
