Our Emergency Department is recognized as a verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and features a dedicated pediatric burn center. Each year, our team of experts in pediatric critical care, rehabilitation, and neonatal medicine delivers care to thousands of children across our facilities.

Position Overview

Reporting to the nursing leadership at the assigned hospital site, the Manager of Patient Services assumes comprehensive management responsibilities for significant functions or services that support nursing operations. This role may also encompass oversight of multiple smaller nursing units, reporting to higher-level management.

The scope of this position is medium-sized, with oversight of less than 50 direct or indirect reports across various nursing units, or a singular major nursing operational support function. Responsibilities may include managing clinical managers and high-level administrative personnel.

The Patient Services Manager is accountable for patient care, focusing on planning, implementing, and evaluating processes related to performance enhancement, staffing efficiency, financial management, staff competency, and customer service outcomes. This role requires collaboration with senior leadership and team members to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and to promote customer service excellence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying needs for departmental policy development and collaborating with management to define policies aligned with departmental objectives.
  • Overseeing the creation and revision of departmental procedures and securing necessary approvals.
  • Monitoring and refining processes to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Participating in personnel actions, including hiring, disciplinary measures, and performance evaluations.
  • Assisting in the development and oversight of budgets for designated areas.

This role supports the standards outlined in the DMC's Code of Conduct, fostering a commitment to legal and ethical practices. The manager will monitor activities to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and DMC policies.

Qualifications:

1. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. If holding a Master’s degree, either degree must be in Nursing.

2. Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan.

3. A minimum of three years of progressive nursing experience is required.
