DMC Children's Hospital of Michigan stands as a prominent institution in pediatric and adolescent healthcare. Our surgical services encompass a range of specialties, including general, thoracic, reconstructive, and cardiovascular surgery. We utilize advanced imaging technologies tailored for children, such as Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and MRI, to provide superior diagnostic services. Our Emergency Department is recognized as a verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and is dedicated to pediatric burn care. Each year, we deliver exceptional care to thousands of children through our main hospital and various outpatient locations.
Position Overview
Reporting to the nursing leadership team, the Manager of Patient Services for the Burn Center will oversee significant functions or processes that support nursing operations. This role may also encompass management responsibilities for multiple smaller nursing units within the department.
The scope of this position is medium, involving less than 50 direct or indirect reports across various nursing units or a single major operational support function. Direct reports may include Clinical Managers and other high-level nursing supervisory personnel.
The Manager of Patient Services will be accountable for planning, implementing, and evaluating processes related to performance enhancement, staffing efficiency, financial management, staff proficiency, and customer service outcomes in collaboration with senior leadership and team members.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and communicating these requirements effectively.
- Collaborating with healthcare team members to strategize and assess activities aligned with departmental and organizational objectives.
- Identifying the need for policy development and revisions, working closely with upper management to define departmental goals.
- Overseeing the creation and modification of departmental procedures and securing necessary approvals.
- Monitoring and refining processes to enhance operational efficiency.
- Participating in personnel decisions, including hiring, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations.
- Assisting in the formulation and monitoring of budgets for designated areas.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan.
- A minimum of three years of progressive nursing experience is required.
