Detroit, Michigan, United States DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital Full time

DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital stands as DMC's largest facility, renowned for its extensive heart center, cancer treatment, geriatric care, emergency services, obstetrics/gynecology, and aesthetic procedures. The hospital's joint replacement initiative is recognized for its groundbreaking minimally invasive knee and hip surgeries, drawing patients nationwide. Sinai-Grace operates over 21 outpatient care locations and ambulatory surgery centers across Wayne and Oakland Counties, and is among only 10 hospitals in the country to receive a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant aimed at establishing exemplary cardiac care standards for hospitals and physicians nationwide.

Position Overview

Under the guidance of Nursing leadership at the hospital, the individual in this role will take on management responsibilities for a significant function, service, or process that supports Nursing operations. This position may also encompass managers overseeing multiple smaller Nursing units, reporting to a Director, Administrative Director, or Executive Director at the site.

The scope of this role is medium, impacting less than 50 FTE direct/indirect reports across various Nursing units, or focusing on a single major Nursing operational support function. The Manager Patient Services will be accountable for patient care, planning, implementing, and evaluating processes related to performance enhancement, staffing efficiency, financial management, staff proficiency, and customer service outcomes in collaboration with senior leadership and team members.

Key responsibilities include ensuring that regulatory requirements and standards are effectively communicated, implemented, and monitored. The Manager will collaborate with other healthcare team members to strategize, execute, and assess activities aligned with departmental, hospital, and DMC objectives, while exemplifying outstanding customer service.

This role will also involve identifying the need for the development or revision of departmental policies, collaborating with higher management to define these policies in line with departmental goals and objectives. The Manager will oversee the creation and revision of departmental procedures and protocols, securing necessary approvals.

Additional responsibilities include developing, monitoring, and refining processes, providing input into departmental organizational design, and overseeing workflow quality and quantity. The Manager may initiate or recommend personnel actions such as hiring, termination, and disciplinary measures for assigned areas, as well as conducting performance evaluations.

Setting and assessing performance goals on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis for assigned areas is crucial. The Manager will assist in long-term goal development for the department and evaluate goal achievement, while also aiding in the budget development and monitoring for designated fields or processes.

Compliance Statement: This role supports the standards outlined in DMC's Code of Conduct, fostering a commitment to legal and ethical standards, and implementing audit recommendations as directed. The Manager will monitor activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, JCAHO requirements, and DMC policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) is required; a Master's degree is preferred. If holding a Master's degree, either the Bachelor's or Master's must be in Nursing.
  2. Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan.
  3. A minimum of three years of progressive Nursing experience is required.
