Position Overview
Reporting to the Nursing leadership at the designated hospital site, the Manager of Patient Services assumes a pivotal role in overseeing significant functions or processes that support Nursing operations. This position may also encompass managerial responsibilities for multiple smaller Nursing units, reporting to higher-level management.
The scope of this role is medium, involving less than 50 direct or indirect reports across various Nursing units, or managing a major operational support function within Nursing. Direct reports may include Clinical Managers and other high-level professional or administrative staff.
The Manager of Patient Services is accountable for patient care and is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating processes related to performance enhancement, staffing efficiency, financial management, staff competency, and customer service outcomes. This is done in collaboration with senior leadership and team members.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and effectively communicating these requirements.
- Collaborating with healthcare team members to plan and evaluate departmental activities aligned with hospital objectives.
- Identifying the need for policy development or revision and working with management to define these policies.
- Overseeing the creation and revision of departmental procedures and securing necessary approvals.
- Monitoring and revising operational processes to enhance efficiency.
- Participating in personnel decisions, including hiring and performance evaluations.
- Assisting in budget development and monitoring for designated areas.
Qualifications:
1. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. If holding a Master’s degree, one of the degrees must be in Nursing.
2. Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan.
3. A minimum of three years of progressive experience in Nursing is required.
