Position Overview
Reporting to the nursing leadership team at the hospital, this role involves managing a significant function, service, or process that supports nursing operations, with oversight through subordinate staff. The position may encompass responsibility for multiple nursing units, requiring a 24/7 management approach, and will report to higher-level directors or executives.
This managerial role is characterized by a medium scope of influence, overseeing fewer than 50 full-time equivalent (FTE) direct or indirect reports across various nursing units, or managing a primary nursing operational support function. Responsibilities may also include multiple operational support tasks that enhance the role's impact within the organization.
The Manager of Patient Services will be accountable for patient care, leading initiatives to plan, implement, and assess processes related to performance enhancement, staffing efficiency, financial oversight, staff competency, and customer satisfaction within designated units. Collaboration with senior leadership and team members is essential to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and to foster a culture of excellence in customer service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Identifying the need for policy development or revisions in collaboration with higher management.
- Overseeing the creation and modification of departmental procedures and securing necessary approvals.
- Monitoring and revising operational processes, including contributing to departmental organizational design.
- Initiating personnel actions such as hiring, termination, and disciplinary measures.
- Conducting performance evaluations and developing performance metrics for assigned areas.
- Assisting in budget development and monitoring for related fields or processes.
Compliance Statement: This role supports the standards outlined in DMC's Code of Conduct, fostering a commitment to legal and ethical practices. The manager will monitor activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and DMC policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) is required; a Master's degree is preferred, with at least one degree being in Nursing.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan.
- A minimum of three years of progressive nursing experience.
