Position Overview

Under the direction of the nursing leadership at the hospital, the Manager of Patient Services for Emergency Care is responsible for overseeing a significant function or multiple smaller services that support nursing operations. This role may encompass management of several nursing units, reporting to higher-level directors or executives.

  • The position is designed for medium-scale operations, managing fewer than 50 full-time equivalent staff across various nursing units or focusing on a major operational support function.
  • Direct reports may include Clinical Managers and other senior professional or administrative staff.
  • The Manager will be accountable for patient care, planning, implementing, and evaluating processes related to performance enhancement, staffing efficiency, financial management, staff competency, and customer service outcomes.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards is essential, as is collaboration with healthcare team members to plan and assess departmental and hospital objectives.
  • The role involves identifying the need for policy development or revisions, working closely with upper management to align with departmental goals.
  • Responsibilities include overseeing the creation and modification of departmental procedures, securing necessary approvals, and monitoring workflow quality.
  • The Manager will set and evaluate performance metrics for their areas of responsibility, assisting in long-term goal setting and budget management.
  • Customer service excellence is a key expectation in all interactions.

Qualifications:

1. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) is required; a Master’s degree is preferred, with at least one degree being in Nursing.

2. Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan.

3. A minimum of three years of progressive nursing experience is required.
